On October 8th, the first steering group meeting of this project is held at the BPIE in Brussels. Diego Calandrino of ECDC Energy Consulting is, with other 8 participants, amog the selected Steering Group (SG) members. It is a small group of experts that has proven to allowe a fruitful and live exchange. The presence of each member has dimonstrated to matter. The aims of the metting have been achieved:
Five case studies on District Heating in Europe hase been selected and the benchmarking methodology to be adopted has been discussed and agreed among the members, alongside the additional information to be collected for each of them.

Although the selected case studies are from the North and Central regions of Europe, however consideration has to be given to allow final raccomandations to be helpfull for the future development of efficient DH in the South of Europe. That shall implay the adoption of Normalised Benchmarks to be finally raccomanded to national policy makers.

Dissemination and knowledge sharing will be an important part of the project and the SG members will serve as facilitators:
- to bring the recommendations to national policy makers to improve existing practies and to initiate developing new policies and finacial instruments by means of future conferences, pubblications and study visits to be sheduled at a multi-level (local, regional national)
- to foster cooperation and knowledge sharing between Members States (MS) and key stakeholders, by getting involved the SM networks, (Celcius, Covent of Mayors, Eranet, etc.)
- to share additional experience to help in analysis for proposed case stuidies.
Next meeting is scheduled for the 2nd quarter of 2020. In the meantime, input is needed from SG memebers (ongoing, bilaterally) to work out the selected case studies (refine policy, legal and econmic context, gather data and information).
