Benchmarking for mobilising investments in energy efficiency is a new project, led by Navigant and BPIE and commissioned by the European Commission, aiming at fostering cooperation between key stakeholders in selected Member States on best practices to mobilising energy efficiency investments in buildings.
Analysis and comparison of existing case studies, together with increased cooperation shall help to identify, understand and promote among the cooperating stakeholders those solutions that work best. They will analyse costs, benefits and success of programmes applied to provide funds and leverage private financing for energy efficiency measures in buildings. Furthermore, we will retrieve experiences and benchmark results and processes. They will derive recommendations based on three benchmarking studies and one concept paper to improve existing practices in the Member States.
Following to Diego’s active participation in their survey he has received this invitation means he was selected among others to be part of our Steering Group. Therefore, he is invited to this first meeting, focusing on knowledge-sharing and aiming at selecting case studies together after presenting selection criteria. The meeting will be followed by two others that will focus on visiting some of the case studies and discuss ideas and recommendations on how to address common barriers to energy efficiency investments. These Steering Group meetings will serve as platforms to discuss and steer study results. Diego will also receive updates about the project progress 2-3 times per year.
The project will build on Diego’s active participation in those Steering Groups: the first one for the topic he demonstrated interest in – Developing efficient district heating to improve energy efficiency and security of supply – is organised October 8 in Brussels.
